Sugarberry Hollow Form
Sugarberry is from the Hackberry family. This piece had such wonderful spalting that I had to turn it to accent the various colors within the wood. The mouth of this piece was turned from Rosewood. Measures 6 1/2″ wide by 3 1/2″ tall. Finished with Shellac.
Sugarberry Hollow Form #1510 Sold
This bowl is not a traditional turning and I must say it was a challenge to turn. The texturing took some time to finish, as each portion is cut and burned into the surface and side. To make the piece unique I used several coats of black dye on the inside of the bowl. I really like the finished product and hope you do too!
Sycamore Bowl #15-11 Sold
This piece reminds me of the desert sands with all the various colors. I knew when I picked up this piece of wood to put it on the lathe to turn, exactly what I was going to make from the wood. Such an unusual piece. Measures 11 1/4″ wide by 2 1/2″ tall. Finished with several coats of Shellac and hand buffed.

Buckeye Burl Hollow Form
I’ve had this piece of burl for about 3 years now. I would look at it and put it back. Look at it again and put it back on the shelf. I just simply could not decide just what to turn from this beautiful chunk of wood to bring out the color and figure that I could see on the outside of this piece of wood. Finally I picked it up and put it on the lathe and started turning. As I turned I began to notice such an amazing color range, from creams to golds, smoky blacks and greens to various shades of brown. The surface was so embellished with figure from smokey swirls to buckeyes, and the natural edge was an added bonus, that I just had to capture it all…and I think this piece did just that! Topped with an Ebony Finial this piece measures 11″ wide x 14″ tall.
Buckeye Hollow Form #1401 $1260.
Maple Burl Lidded Vessel
A nice piece of Maple Burl with Colorado Turquoise Accents and topped with an Ebony Finial. Ebony wood has been a coveted wood by wood artisans for literally thousands of years, in fact, some carved pieces have been discovered in Ancient Egyptian tombs dating as far back as 3000 BC..
Maple Burl Lidded Vessel # 1402 Sold
Simple designs are often best for such highly figured wood. It allows the eyes to roam over the form to capture the road map of brown and black lines that encompass this piece. Ebony ring and a walnut shoulder were used to accent the spalting on this hollow form. Finished with a high gloss finish and hand buffed. Measures 6″ tall x 11″ diameter.

Aspen Cocobolo Vessel
This vessel was turned from a piece of Colorado Aspen. As the piece was being turned two partial primitive iron nails were discovered embedded in the wood. This is evident in the two smokey trails left behind on the vessel and two small filled holes. The mouth of this piece was turned from a beautiful piece of Cocobolo. Measures approximately 8″ tall x 8″ wide. Finished with a high friction polish and hand buffed.

Amboyna Burl Lidded Bowl
The body of this beautiful lidded bowl was turned from highly figured Amboyna Burl. It features strong black pencil-line spalting. Soft gold and brown tightly packed eyes/rays fan out over the entire piece. The lip of the bowl was turned from Ebony with bands of rich golden brown. The lid was turned from another highly figured Maple Burl, providing a lighter accent against a very jet black Ebony finial. To provide a special touch to this piece you will find a small jet black finial underneath the lid. The entire piece is approximately 10″ tall and 7″ wide. Finished with a high friction polish and hand buffed with Renaissance Wax to produce a rich soft glow.
